What we store
- A guest account. The first time you play, the game creates an anonymous account: a random ID and a sign-in token for this device. No name or email.
- Your progress. Daily scores (best score, medal, the hand you made, how many times you played) and the stars you've earned in adventure levels.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple: the account ID that Google or Apple gives us, your name, and your email address. With Apple you can choose to share a private relay address instead of your real one.
- Matchplay. The name you choose for other players to see, and your online matches: who is playing, every hop, and the result.
- Match records. When a Matchplay game ends (online, against the bot, or pass and play), we keep a record of it: the map, every hop and when it was made, and how each side finished. Players appear in these records only as an anonymous code, never by name, email or account.
- Purchases in the iPhone app: Apple's transaction ID for each purchase, which product it was, and when a subscription runs out or a purchase was refunded, so what you've bought works on every device you sign in on. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID.
- How you play. Which modes you start and finish, how long you play, your scores, menus you open, and the app version, tied to your account. This doesn't include your location, contacts or anything outside the game.
- Notifications, if you turn them on: your device's notification token, your time zone (so daily reminders arrive at a sensible hour) and which notifications you want.
Your sound setting stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
What we use it for
To run the game: keeping your progress, letting you pick it up on another device after signing in, and running matches with friends. Match records are used only to check that Matchplay is fair and to tune it, for example whether the player who moves first wins too often. Play data is used to see which parts of the game people enjoy and which need work. We don't sell the data we store, and we don't give it to advertisers.
Ads in the iPhone app
The iPhone app shows a short ad between games every few games, and ads you can choose to watch for a reward. They come from Google AdMob, and Meta Audience Network can bid to fill them through AdMob. Those networks collect data on your device to show and measure ads, such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, rough location and how you interact with the ads. They handle it under their own policies: Google and Meta.
- Tracking is your choice. The app asks before ad networks may use your advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Say no and you still see ads, just less personal ones. You can change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK and some US states), the app asks for your consent or lets you opt out first, and Settings in the game has Ad privacy choices to change your answer.
- Buying No ads (or Adventure) turns ads off.
The website shows no ads.
Where it lives
Accounts and progress are stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the game's server. On the website, the game's fonts come from Google Fonts and the "Continue with Google" button is loaded from Google. Ads in the app are served by Google and, through Google, Meta.
Deleting your data
When you're signed in, go to Profile → Settings and choose Delete account. Your account, sign-ins, progress and notification settings are deleted from our server right away, and the game clears its copy on your device. Match records and play data stay, but nothing links them to you any more. Match records hold only an anonymous code, which no longer leads to a name, email or account once your account is gone. Play data loses its link to your account. Without an account, clearing the site's data in your browser (or deleting the app) removes everything stored on your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Features that collect more data will be described here before they launch.
